“Everybody starting off with this guru story right?

Football programs, basketball programs, swimming programs, listen to me-

Everybody and their mamma are talking about 'when you wanna succeed as bad as...'

While I'm appreciative that people are using the message, this ain't no gimmick, ya'll.

This ain't no saying, this ain't something you say just to be saying. It's getting out of control, cause people are losing the essence of the message.

This ain't a mantra. This ain't something you just put on your computer.

No more errors. I'm not saying 4th quarter so you can hear me talk. When I say it's the 4th quarter, no more errors, no more mistakes. You gotta go in right now, you gotta go in and be picture perfect baby.

You gotta get it done. You gotta hit that shot. You gotta get that touchdown.

And watch this: there was a commercial. Emmitt Smith had won his first Super Bowl and he had this commercial and he was lifting weights.

He was lifting and he said, Emmitt said, you know what: "I won the Super Bowl, so I can rest now."

So he throws up about 325, boom, and he rests for about 2 seconds.

Emmitt Smith said this at the end of the commercial: "All men are created equal. Some work harder in preseason."

I'm gonna say it again cause you might have missed it: "All men are created equal. Some work harder in preseason."

We going to will. Yes we're tired. Yes we're hungry. Yes the mind is saying give up. Yes it's saying quit. But we cannot quit because we realize we have not reached a goal yet.

When you immerse yourself in your craft, you're not studying to get a grade, you're not playing to score points. You immerse yourself in it so you BECOME it--you're gonna go to a whole other level.

The most important thing is this:

To be able at any moment to sacrifice what you ARE for what you will BECOME.

Listen to me, pain is temporary. It may last for a minute or an hour or a day... or even a year. But eventually, it will subside. And something else will take its place.

You ain't gonna die. At the end of pain is success. You're not gonna die because you're feeling a little pain.

I dare you to take a little pain.

I dare you.

Your life is in your hands. You're the captain of your ship.

You can have, you can be, you can do whatever you wanna do. Remember boo, if it was easy, everybody would do it.

It's what they eat, it's what they sleep, it's what they drink, it's who they are. It possesses them. And the guru was telling him, when mentally you want it in your spirit, in your soul, when you want it, it will happen.

When the guru, when he took him under water and he brought him up, he wasn't saying this was a behavior y'all. He wasn't saying if you do this, and you do that, and you do this, and you do that, you'll be successful.

No.

What he was saying was this is a mentality. You gotta live this, you gotta eat this--every single thing you do--it's a mentality.

It's not a behavior. Behavior is this:

New Years, you're gonna lose this much weight, you're gonna get the six pack, you're gonna do this, you're gonna do that, and you're good in January, and by February you start slowing down, and by March you ain't doing it no more. Why? Because it was a behavior. If it was the way you thought. If it was HERE, you'd be on a whole other level. So do me a huge favor, understand, it's not a cute saying. It's a way of life. It's got to possess everything you do. It's got to own you. You understand what I'm telling you?

You can't count the cost. When you want something bad, you can't count the cost.

Because if you count the cost and you see how much it costs, you might quit. You might give up. So you gotta go in knowing that I don't count the cost. I do as many pushups as it takes, as many situps as it takes, as many reps as it takes. You don't count the cost on this one. Listen to me, you don't count how many breaths you take. You don't count it. You get to the point where you don't count it. You just do whatever it takes to get whatever you want.

I'm gonna say it again, cause you gotta catch what I said. You don't count the cost on this one. You, you just do what you gotta do on this one. And then you look back when it's all over and you see the rewards.

You look back and you see what you've accomplished. You don't count it, you just look back and you see that you've succeeded.”
